Leeds lost their first pre season game on home soil when they were beaten 4-0 by League Two side Bury.

Leeds travelled to Gigg Lane without a number of first team players that were injured or not 100% fit.

Billy Paynter, Jason Crowe, Richard Naylor, Lloyd Sam and Alan Martin were all left on the sidelines.

Leeds started the better, both John Howson and Bradley Johnson going close, whilst Mike Grella had a goal ruled out after a foul in the build up.

Bradley Johnson went closest of all in the opening fifteen minutes when his header came back off the bar.

Leeds had controlled the opening half hour but nearly went behind when Ryan Lowe missed the target after being put through.

It was only a short reprieve for Leeds as they went 1-0 down soon afterwards; Lowe made no mistake with his second chance after being given far too much space inside the area.

Leeds tried to get back on level terms before half time, Howson went closest when he saw an effort go over the bar.

Snodgrass had the first effort of note for Leeds in the second half but his effort failed to trouble the Bury keeper.

The home side were still looking to double the lead and twice went close in the space of minutes to getting their second goal.

Bury did make it 2-0 just past the hour, when substitute Bishop was put through to score.

Snodgrass came close to getting Leeds back into the game but Belford in the Bury goal clawed his free kick away.

Bury almost made it 3-0 but Worley`s effort was ruled out for offside.

Davide Somma was introduced by Leeds with just over twenty minutes remaining and he was soon in the thick of the action when Belford had to make a good save to deny the Leeds front man.

Leeds were having no luck in front of goal and Bradley Johnson hit the woodwork for the second time in the evening with the keeper beaten.

With Leeds having no luck at one end, it came as no surprise when Bury took their next chance when Danny Carlton scored with five minutes remaining.

Bury hadn`t finished there, Bishop scored his second goal of the evening from the penalty spot after a foul by Paul Connolly.
