Leeds have finally started to strengthen their defence today with the signing of French defender Mansour Assoumani on a one month contract.
25 year old Assoumani has been having a trial at Leeds and scored in this week`s reserve fixture against York City.
The big defender who recently had a trial at Championship side Sheffield United is available for Leeds clash at MK Dons on Saturday as he didn`t have a contract with any club allowing him to be signed outside the transfer window, Leeds have also received international clearance for the player.
Boss Gary McAllister has been impressed with what he`s seen so far, when speaking on the official website he said ‘He’s looked good in training and settled in well, he instantly comes into the reckoning for Saturday’s game.’
He can play at either centre back or the right hand side of defence and will hopefully be able to bolster a Leeds back line who`ve only kept four clean sheets in the league all season.
He started his career with Montpellier in France in 2001 and stayed with them until 2006 when he moved on to FC Saarbrucken in Germany.
