Leeds United have relieved Gary McAllister of the manager`s position after a dismal run of form has seen Leeds slip to ninth in the League One table.

McAllister took over in January and led Leeds to the Play off final which they lost 1-0 to Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Leeds started the season fairly well and were second in the table in early November but a disastrous run of results including being beaten by part timers Histon Town in the FA Cup has led to Ken Bates showing him the door.

The board have taken the decision to give the new manager enough games to try and get Leeds back into the promotion picture at the end of the season.

They also wanted to give the new boss enough time to get the players in he wants during the January transfer window.

During McAllister`s time as manager of Leeds they played 50 games, winning 25, drawing 8 and losing 17 a winning percentage of 50%.
