It`s been revealed that Leeds missed out on the signing of Derby County centre forward Liam Dickinson by 14 minutes.

Both clubs had agreed the deal which would have seen the striker stay at Elland Road for the rest of the season but the fax didn`t reach the Football League until 5.14pm with the window closing at 5pm.

Due to the extreme weather conditions that swept across the country on Monday, the Premier League extended the closing of the window and made arrangements that the registering of players could be made after the 5 pm deadline, unfortunately the Football League didn`t do the same!

Speaking on the official website chief executive Shaun Harvey said “It is disappointing that the Football League stuck rigidly to the 5pm deadline”

Leeds are still hoping to conclude the deal when the loan transfer window re opens on the 9th of February when clubs can sign players for a maximum of 93 days.
