Leeds United have reportedly paid part of the fee they owe Italian side Torino for Pontus Jansson.

Leeds agreed a three-year deal with Jansson in January after the Swedish international triggered a clause in his loan deal that allowed Leeds to turn the loan into a permanent deal.

Reports earlier this week said that Torino had involved FIFA after Leeds had failed to pay for Jansson but the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds have now made an initial payment for the defender.

Jansson is set to join Leeds on a permanent basis on July 1st, after a successful season on loan at Elland Road, a time when Leeds intend to complete the transfer from Torino but the Italian side had claimed that Leeds should have paid the fee when he agreed a permanent switch to Leeds in January.

The defender made 35 appearances for Leeds scoring three goals and he became a firm fans favourite.
