Leeds United will be looking to extend the best current opening day record in the top four divisions on Saturday in the season opener against Derby County at Elland Road.
Leeds haven`t tasted defeat on the opening day since 1989 when they went down 5-2 at Newcastle United.
Ironically, Leeds went on to win the Second Division title in that season.
Since then Leeds have won thirteen and drawn seven of their opening day games.
Saturday`s opponents Derby County have met Leeds on three occasions during the run, with Leeds winning one and two being drawn.
Two of the games have taken place at Elland Road with Leeds winning 1-0 in 2004/05 thanks to a Frazer Richardson goal and drawing 0-0 in 1999/00.
As well as being unbeaten in their last twenty opening day games they have won their last six. The last time they failed to record all three points on the opening day was in their final season in the Premiership when a late Alan Shearer goal earned Newcastle a point in a 2-2 draw at Elland Road.
Leeds home game with derby on Saturday will be their tenth opening day home fixture in the past twelve seasons.
