Leeds United continue to be linked with a number of Premier League midfielders as boss Simon Grayson continues to look to strengthen his squad.

Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson continues to be linked with Leeds since he expressed his desire to join the club he`s supported since a boy.

Johnson continues his rehabilitation at City since suffering a long-term injury having not played for the first team since Autumn 2009.

Mirror sport and The Daily Mail are linking Leeds with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan.

The 21 year old broke into the first team squad this season and he also earned his first full Scotland cap against Faroe Islands in November.

Bannan enjoyed a successful loan spell with Blackpool last season and helped the tangerines win promotion to the Premier League.

The midfielder could feature in Villa`s FA Cup fifth round tie with Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Leeds are also being linked with Jordan Mutch from Birmingham City in today’s Yorkshire Eevening Post.

The 19 year old has made just one appearance for the blues when he came off the bench in a Carling Cup tie against Southampton in 2008.

Mutch has enjoyed successful loan spells at fellow Championship sides Doncaster Rovers and Watford in the last year.

The England under 17 and 19 international spent the last four months of last season on loan at Doncaster where he scored two goals in seventeen appearances.

He joined Watford at the start of the season, on loan until the New Year and he helped the Hornets into the Play off places by the time he returned to his parent club, scoring five goals in twenty-three appearances.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson said last week that he was on the lookout for one or two loan signings and was hopeful of getting at least one in before the weekends defeat at Swansea, which didn`t materialise.

After the poor performance at Swansea, Grayson will be looking to bolster the squad as they enter the last twelve games of the season, with promotion back to the Premier League after a seven-year absence still a distinct possibility.
