Leeds United are giving a trial to goalkeeper Darjan Curanovic.

Curanovic is currently having a trial with the Leeds squad whilst the side are spending ten days in Slovenia.

The 27-year-old Slovenia is currently playing for Triglav Kranj in the Slovenian league having had unsuccessful trials with English clubs Middlesbrough and Portsmouth last summer.

Curanovic is keen on a move to England. Speaking on Sport TV, he said, ‘One of the goalies at Leeds United broke his arm so they invited me to train with them. If everything goes by the plan there is also a chance for me to sign for Leeds.

‘Every player dreams about playing in England so I really hope that this will become reality for me.’

The 6`2″ goalkeeper was expected to make an appearance against FC Domzale on Saturday but Brian McDermott used youngster Alex Cairns for 90 minutes.

Leeds finish their pre-season tour of Slovenia on Tuesday night with a game against Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

Experienced goalkeepers Paddy Kenny and James Ashdown as well as youngsters Alex Cairns and Eric Grimes are already on professional deals at Elland Road.
