LUFC Leeds Fans View v Derby County

I was in the hot seat today for the trip to Derby County and I give my views on the player`s performance in the 3-1 defeat.

Kenny 4

Totally wrong footed for the first goal and he could do little with the second and third. He made a couple of great saves. I do like goalkeepers who distribute the ball quickly but sometimes it is just aimless, as it was today.

Byram 5
I think the Derby side were trying to kick him off the park and he was on the wrong end of some stiff tackles.

Tate 4
He was found out today when faced with pace.

Lees 6
The best defender on show for Leeds and he was very unlucky not to draw Leeds level at 2-2 when his header hit the inside of the post.

Peltier 1
Absolutely shocking performance. All at sea for the first goal when he did absolutely nothing to stop Sammon shooting and gave the ball away for the third goal that killed the game. People say he is not a left back – Well he hasn`t impressed me when he has played in his natural position either. He is supposed to be leading by example as club captain.

Green 4
He scored on his return to Derby but the game passed him by for long periods as it did the whole midfield.

Tonge 1
Another player who had an absolute shocker. Being bossed in the centre of the park by a 17 year old who showed hunger and fight for the ball. He was often quite easily muscled out of the game and looked laboured for most of the game. What happened in a week after his performance at Huddersfield?

Norris 1
Did he actually contribute in any way? He was missing the whole game and rightfully subbed but Warnock could have taken any of them off.

Hall 2
He got his chance to show us what he could do and apart from one effort that was somehow acrobatically kept out, he offered little. The left side was totally ineffective and he did little to help out the inept Peltier.

Becchio 5
I thought he worked very hard for the side with little help. I do not know what was going through his mind with his header that led to their second goal. Experienced pro and he heads the ball back into the danger area when he either could have left it or put it out for a corner and regroup.

McCormack 3
With Leeds going long all day to Becchio, he hardly got into the game and some of his dead ball deliveries were shocking and out of character.

Subs

Varney 2

We are 2-1 down so what do we do? – We send for Luke Varney!! With him on the pitch we just went more route one than we had all game if that was possible.

Diouf 7 Star Man
He did more in fifteen minutes than the rest of them did all afternoon.

White 5
He came on for the last ten minutes and he give offer us a better option out wide.

Summary
I still cannot believe that apart from Jerome Thomas, I witnessed the same players that beat Huddersfield a week earlier.

The midfield trio of Green, Norris and Tonge, who had bossed the midfield, were nowhere to be seen and being given a football lesson by a 17 year old who ran the show.

After playing football for three games we went back to route one. Hit everything at Becchio seemed to be the instruction and whilst he worked hard, very little fell for us.

I said last week, even after a good performance at Huddersfield, a win that made it three in a row – We are a mid table side at best. If Neil Warnock thinks we only need to add a striker to the loan players currently at the club then we definitely will be mid table at best.

Ipswich next and they are running into form, so that looks a tricky game. I hope Austin is back soon because we need his force in the middle of the pitch.
