LUFC Leeds fans view v Arsenal

Arsenal were the opposition once again in the FA Cup and I was in the hot seat at the Emirates for the fans view.

Leeds went out 1-0 to a late Thierry Henry goal who continues to haunt Leeds.

Lonergan 7 Man of the match
He controlled his area, made a couple of great saves and cleared his lines well. He could do nothing with the goal.

Thompson 7
I was impressed with the young lad who stuck to his task well. He did keep getting sucked in centrally allowing space in behind him and it was Thompson who allowed Henry in behind for the goal.

Lees 7
Both the central defenders worked really hard keeping the Arsenal strikers quiet for long periods.

O`Dea 7
He is definitely a much happier and better player when playing alongside Lees. Let us hope these two can stay fit.

White 7
He stuck to his task well and tried to help going forward. When he gets in a position to cross he really needs to work on his final ball into the middle.

Vayrynen 4
A very poor performance. He was knocked off the ball far too easily and was guilty of giving the ball away on a number of occasions.

Pugh 6
He looks much better in the centre and he put in a good shift alongside Clayton.

Clayton 7
He looked back to how he was playing earlier in the season. He was the one player who was trying to get Leeds moving forward and got stuck in.

Townsend 5
He disappeared in the second half after looking a threat in the first half. His frustration showed when he got booked for kicking the ball away.

Becchio 4
He offered very little. With Leeds playing defensively, he gave Leeds no movement or outlet going forward. He really should have done better with his chance in the first half.

Nunez 4
When he had possession he gave it away. Far too easily knocked off the ball and stood around ball watching rather than get back and help defensively.

Subs

Brown 4

Too fat, too slow, clumsy and a yard behind everyone else. All he seems to want to do is kick people.

McCormack 5
He gave us more movement and options up front in fifteen minutes than Becchio did all night. He really should have done better with his headed chance.

Forssell 5
He was thrown on to give us a target up front. Tried but no product.

Summary
Whilst I really was not bothered about this game, the further it went I thought we might get a replay. The defence played really well and Pugh and Clayton looked much better in the centre.

It was always going to be Henry`s night so it was no surprise when he scored.

We are back in London on Saturday and to where it matters. Defensively we looked good but need something up front.

One last point. If this is the Premier League then they can keep it. Soulless fans who make very little noise.
