Leeds United could be refused permission to play in the Premier League if they win promotion.

The chief executive of the Football League Richard Scudamore explained to MP`s at the Football Governance enquiry that they need better disclosure from Leeds as to who owns the club.

Speaking at the enquiry, Scudamore said, “If we deemed them to be in breach of rule, a commission would have to be formed and that commission would independently decide on what the appropriate sanction would be to Leeds United.
“So you are already leaping to the expulsion sanction, which I would caution you against doing that but certainly in our view, currently drafted, our rules would require better disclosure of the Leeds United ownership situation than is currently the case.”

Leeds are currently fifth in the Championship, six points behind second placed Norwich City and four points above Nottingham Forest in seventh, who sit just outside the Play off positions.
