The big lunch time kick off saw Leeds return to their famous epic Play off Semi final just four months ago.

Carlisle so far had a 100% home record and sat second whilst Leeds had won their previous three games and sat fourth in the table.

With Alan Sheehan suspended Leeds decided to bring young Aiden White into the side at left back for his first full League appearance. Rui Marques retained his place at the heart of defence with Michalik available after missing last week due to his sending off against Crewe.

The youngster was soon in the thick of the action picking out Hughes with a good cross. Soon after this he combined well again with Douglas and Beckford to set up Hughes with another chance.

Carlisle were also trying to break down the Leeds defence without any success, Cleveland Taylor coming closest when heading over the bar.

Leeds had a good chance on the half hour when Williams had to spread himself well to save from Kilkenny and put out for a corner.
It wasn`t long though before Leeds were celebrating when the resulting corner was put over by Kilkenny, Telfer headed the ball back across goal and Beccio blasted the ball past a helpless Williams.

Leeds had chances to extend their lead before half time and were fully deserving of their 1-0 lead at half time.

Carlisle made a change at half time replacing leading scorer Danny Graham with Scott Dobie after Graham was frustrated during the first half.

Leeds continued to play well and carved out more chances to extend their lead.

Bad news on 55 minutes when young Aiden White had to limp off and was replaced by Johnny Howson last seasons play off hero at Carlisle.

Carlisle were now beginning to get into the game without seriously hurting the Leeds defence and decided to throw on another forward around the hour mark, former Leeds man Michael Bridges entering the game.

Carlisle were now really pressing hard for the equaliser and chances fell to Dobie and Carlton who both headed over when in good positions.

Leeds almost doubled their lead against the run of play when Richardson rattled the bar with a long range effort.
Carlisle soon had the woodwork rattling at the other end when a cross from Hackney skidded along the bar.

Leeds wrapped the game up with four minutes left when a good run down the wing from Snodgrass saw him centre for the on rushing Beckford to smash home his eleventh goal of the season.

The second goal deflated the home side and Leeds comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to secure a fantastic three points at one of their promotion rivals.

The win sees Leeds continue their impressive run of results and we are now just three points behind Leaders Oldham.

The Whites now have two home games in the next week, the first a third round Carling Cup tie in midweek against Hartlepool.
