Leeds got back to winning way`s on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Leeds made changes from the defeat at Peterborough last Saturday and were forced into a late change when Paul Telfer suffered a groin injury and was replaced by Lubo Michalik.

The home side made a cautious start after two defeats in the last week; their first real chance fell to Jermaine Beckford whose shot was saved by the Albion keeper.

The Seagulls weren`t at Elland Road though to try and play for a draw and the dangerous Joe Anyinsah fired over when in a good position.

Beckford should have scored just after the half way mark in the first half when he lifted the ball over the advancing Albion keeper but unfortunately his shot went over the bar.

Leeds were enjoying a large bulk of the attacking play and defender Frazer Richardson twice had chances to open the scoring.

Just when it looked like the sides were going in all square at half time Leeds opened the scoring.
A cross from the right hand side found its way through to Becchio and at the second attempt his crisp left foot volley gave the keeper no chance.

Leeds hadn`t finished in the half yet, after good work from the two youngsters White and Delph down the left hand side; a great ball in from Delph was powerfully headed by Beckford past the helpless Kuipers in the Albion goal.

The home side continued the second half the way they ended the first and Beckford shot into the side netting within the first 30 seconds of the re start.

Leeds were now totally dominant and Marques`s header came back off the bar.

Fabien Delph was again the star for Leeds and Brighton were beginning to get totally frustrated by the skill of the youngster, things boiled over with 15 minutes to go when Delph was crudely fouled and a flare up between players from both sides flared. The referee Carl Boyeson had only booked eight players in eight games this season prior to this game, that total was doubled with five Brighton and three Leeds player`s finding their way into the referee`s notebook.

Leeds finally got a third goal that their second half display had deserved when the Brighton keeper came rushing out of his goal only to be calmly rounded by Beckford and he slotted home from an acute angle for his 13th goal of the season.

Leeds were just beginning to think that they were going to keep a rare clean sheet when Glenn Murray was put through on goal, although three Leeds defenders tried to close him down the Brighton forward found the back of the net to the disappointment of the Leeds defence.

A good three points after a bad week temporarily puts Leeds up into third in the table.

All eyes are now on next week`s clash with Millwall at The New Den with both clubs currently on 20 points.
