Leeds United have released striker Tresor Kandol from his contract by mutual consent.

The 28 year old was told by boss Simon Grayson at the end of last season to actively look for a new club during the summer and his release allows him to pursue this.

Kandol joined Leeds from Barnet in 2006 and he`s played 77 games for the club scoring 16 goals.

The Congolese international looked to be on his way out of Elland Road in 2009 after spending the whole of the 2008/09 season on loan at Millwall and then Charlton Athletic.

Kandol fought his way back into the reckoning with some good performances in the reserves and he scored in his first start against Darlington in November since playing in the League One Play off final in 2008.

His hard work was undone when he received a three-match suspension after being charged by the Football League for an incident after the final whistle in the 4-0 home win over Yeovil Town in November.

Injury and personal reasons saw him out of the side again until March.

His final appearance in a Leeds shirt was a very short one, when he was sent off after 20 seconds of entering the field as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Norwich City at the end of March.
