George McCartney has been rewarded for his good form at Leeds United by earning a recall to the Northern Ireland squad.


He is included in the 20-man squad for the friendly with Morocco at Windsor Park on November 17th.

The left back has already won 32 caps for the national side since making his debut in 2001 against Iceland.

The on loan defender has impressed during his loan spell at Elland Road since joining from Sunderland.

McCartney has started all eight of Leeds games since joining in September, when he made his debut against Sheffield United.

Northern Ireland have been able to monitor the progress of McCartney very closely with Leeds Glynn Snodin the assistant at Leeds also the assistant manager of Northern Ireland.
