Crowd favourite and Mr Versatility Andy Hughes is hoping for a run in the side after making his first start since September in Saturday`s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Hughes took his chance in the right back position with Paul Connolly serving a one-match suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season.

Speaking on the official website, Hughes said, ‘Paul Connolly has done well and it’s up to me to push him. I was fortunate to play because he was suspended and I’d like to think I took my chance. But it’s up to the manager to decide what to do.’

The 32 year old has played a number of positions since arriving at Elland Road and spent most of last season in the left back position after a long-term injury to Ben Parker.

Hughes is popular with the vast majority of fans due to his 100% commitment to the side and ability to play wherever and whenever the manager asks.
