Leeds United captain Jonny Howson believes the performance on Saturday was not as bad as everyone is making out.
Howson is currently watching from the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.
Leeds players were booed off the pitch at both half time and full time but Howson thought it was not that bad.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Howson said, “We know we can perform better than that, but I wouldn`t go to the extreme of going over the top of it being that bad.
“To be fair to Reading, sometimes in certain situations you just have to hold your hands up.
“We weren`t brilliant, but they are a good side. They were organised, they were hard to break down and the early goal killed us in a way.
“They got something very early on and they can just the see game out.
“Over the course of the season you are going to have performances like this, and every now and again you have a dip in form.”
Howson has been out since suffering a knee injury in the home win over Millwall.
The midfielder is not expected to return before February although surgery was not required.
The local lad is out of contract in the summer and is still to agree on a new deal with the club.
