Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez has received a new one-year deal with the club.

The former Spanish international triggered an appearance related clause in his Leeds contract, extending his stay with the club until the summer of 2018.

Hernandez initially joined Leeds on a short-term loan deal from Qatari side Al-Arabi last summer before completing a permanent deal until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old played a pivotal part in Leeds push for promotion during the season and he scored six goals in 38 appearances as well as being responsible for eight assists, amongst the leading players in the Championship.

Leeds announced that Hernandez would be staying with the club until the summer of 2018 after announcing their retained list.
