Jay-Roy Grot made his first appearance for the Leeds development squad and he scored the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Elland Road.

Grot has struggled in the first team since arriving in the summer, Leeds gave the giant Dutchman the opportunity of 90 minutes in the development squad, and he enjoyed his appearance with the winning goal, his first in a Leeds shirt.

In a tight first half, Grot had Leeds best opportunity when his fierce shot was saved by the chest of Huddersfield keeper Joel Coleman.

Leeds started the second half brightly with Oliver Sarkic and Jamie Shackleton going close.

Sarkic then had a great chance to give Leeds the lead from the penalty spot after Grot had been fouled in the area but Coleman kept out his low shot.

Leeds went ahead soon afterwards when Jamie Shackleton picked out Grot and the Dutch under-20 international fired home.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell was called upon to maintain Leeds lead and he did well to keep out a Lewis O`Brien effort and from the resulting break Sarkic had a great chance to double the lead when he broke from the halfway line but after he rounded the Huddersfield keeper a covering Huddersfield defender cleared his weak effort.

Huddersfield had a couple of late chances with Regan Booty drifting a free-kick just wide and a dangerous ball into the middle evading everybody.
