Leeds United striker Mike Grella is currently training with American side New York Cosmos.

Grella was told by Leeds at the end of last season that he was free to look for another club and have given the striker permission to spend time with Cosmos.

The 24 year old made just two substitute appearances for Leeds last season and didn`t feature after the first two games of the season.

He also spent time on loan at Carlisle United and Swindon Town.

Grella infuriated Leeds boss Simon Grayson on a couple of occasions last season.

He first refused to go out on loan in September with a number of League Two clubs showing an interest in his services on loan, saying he didn`t want to drop down the leagues.

He then cut his loan period at Swindon short after being demoted to the substitute`s bench.

Grella has failed to shine in a Leeds shirt since joining in January 2008.

Out of 42 appearances since his arrival, only 9 have been starts and 33 substitute appearances.
