Brentford have signed Leeds United striker Mike Grella.

The American has signed for the League One outfit after Leeds and Grella reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract at Elland Road.

Grella had a year remaining on his contract and he made just two substitute appearances in the first two games of last season.

He spent time on loan at Carlisle United and Swindon Town during last season with chances limited at Elland Road.

He upset Leeds boss Simon Grayson after cutting his loan spell short at Swindon, as he was not happy sitting on the bench with the League One club and he was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season.

The 24 year old made 42 appearances for Leeds, with only 9 of them being starts since joining the club in January 2009.

Grella will join up with another former Leeds player Jonathan Douglas at Griffin Park.

The striker will go straight into the squad for their game with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
