Leeds United midfielder Paul Green hopes the win over Ipswich Town can kick start another winning run with the busy festive period ahead.
Green scored to settle the Leeds nerves when he netted the second goal in the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at Elland Road on Saturday.
The win was the perfect response after the disappointment of losing at Derby County last weekend.
The defeat at Derby ended a three match-winning run and Green wants Leeds to go on another run to be in and around the play-off places at Christmas.
Speaking on LUTV, Green said, “After last week`s defeat at Derby, it was important to get back to winning ways.
“If you lose a couple in this league you can quickly be down in the bottom half.
“It is crucial to be in and around it at Christmas so it was a massive boost.
“We now need to kick on and get another run going.”
The midfielder signed for Leeds in the summer from fellow championship side Derby County.
The Republic of Ireland international is improving with every game for Leeds after suffering a knee injury on the opening day of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which ruled him out for two months.
Green returned against Charlton in October but looked off the pace after two months out.
The diminutive midfielder improved his fitness playing for the development squad before returning to the first team against Watford in November.
The 29 year old was used as a defender on his return but he was sacrificed on the stroke of half time after Jason Pearce was shown a straight red card.
He has been an ever-present in the starting line-up since down the right for Leeds and he is forging a good partnership with Sam Byram.
Green netted his first goal for the club against Crystal Palace last month and he has now netted three times in his last five games.
