Leeds United midfielder Paul Green has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad.

Green was part of the initial provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan but caretaker manager Noel King then placed him on the standby list when the final 23 were announced.

With Stoke City midfielder Jon Walters being forced out of the squad through injury, King has called Green up to the squad.

Ireland travel to Germany on Friday before welcoming Kazakhstan to Dublin for their final qualifier next Tuesday.

Ireland are already out of contention for a place in the 2014 World Cup finals.
