Leeds United boss Simon Grayson said his team`s performance merited a win and conceded they will play worse this season and win games this season.

Leeds had to settle for a point against Cardiff in the lunchtime game at Elland Road after going behind in the first half.

David Marshall had an inspired game in the Cardiff goal denying Leeds with some fantastic saves on a number of occasions.

Grayson also felt that the first half performance lacked tempo and said they rectified that in the second half as Leeds dominated.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, “We needed to increase the tempo, with and without the ball. We needed to get around them a little bit quicker, pass the ball quicker, and we did that, if it hadn`t been for their goalkeeper we would have won the game.
“I said it the other night. We will play worse than that and win games and it was the same case again today.”

Cardiff had taken the lead in the seventeenth minute when Joe Mason reacted to a mistake by Darren O`Dea who failed to clear the ball.

Robert Snodgrass equalised for Leeds with seventeen minutes remaining when he poked home from close range.

The result leaves Leeds in seventh place in the division.
