Leeds United boss Simon Grayson returns to one of his former clubs Leicester City on Boxing Day and is hoping that the side can keep up their recent good form.
Leeds are now unbeaten in nine games since suffering a heavy home defeat to Cardiff in October.
Grayson is hoping to see his team keep up the same level of performance over a busy festive period that as seen them rise to second place in the Championship. Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, “It`s about maintaining the level of performances and work rate we`ve had. It`s an excellent game for us.”
Leeds have been defeated by Leicester twice this season already.
Four days before the Cardiff defeat, Leicester went away with all three points with a 2-1 win, a score line that flattered Leeds after being totally outplayed for the first forty-five minutes.
Leicester also won at Elland Road back in August when they came from behind to knock Leeds out of the Carling Cup 2-1.
Grayson says that he is not looking for revenge on Sunday at the Walkers Stadium, “It`s not revenge. They`ve had some great results and some strange results. We`re hoping to inflict another result on them and see where it takes us,” he continued.
Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson now manages the Foxes and since his arrival, he has managed to bring in a number of players with Premiership experience including former England striker Darius Vassell.
When Eriksson took over the midlands side, they were struggling in the relegation places in the Championship.
Since then the club have risen up the table with a solid home record, they have remained unbeaten at the Walkers Stadium since he took over in October with four wins and two draws.
They have won their last three at home beating, Derby County 2-0, Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Doncaster Rovers 5-1.
Their away form is letting them down at the moment and they have lost their last three including a heavy 3-0 defeat at Ipswich Town last Saturday.
They are now in sixteenth place and are just six points outside the play off positions, but also just seven points above the relegation zone in a very tight division.
Leeds will be hoping for a repeat of the last time they travelled to face a side managed by Eriksson. Leeds travelled to face Lazio at the Stadio Olympico in the Champions League in December 2000. A solitary Alan Smith goal with just ten minutes remaining ensured they travelled back to England with three important Champions League points towards their qualification for the quarter finals of the competition.
