LUFC Grayson – We keep pressing the same button

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson was critical of his sides defending after once again squandering a lead.

Leeds looked to be heading for all three points when they took the lead through Luciano Becchio with just eighteen minutes remaining.

For the second time in for days, Leeds then pressed the self destruct button conceding twice in eight minutes with some woeful marking and defending.

Grayson was less than impressed with his defence, speaking on Radio Leeds he said, ‘It was frustrating because I say the same things after every game.
‘We get the goals but we make individual mistakes.
‘Today, we got in front and then within five or 10 minutes it’s 2-1.We don’t have a siege mentality when we go in front.
‘We knew it might be the 70th, 80th or 90th minute when we ground it out. We went 1-0 up, Luciano missed a chance, then it’s 1-1 and then 2-1.
‘I keep having to say the same things on a regular basis which is frustrating for me, my staff and the players.
‘At this stage of the season it doesn’t matter how you win games. We got the goal and then we switched off. Then players made soft challenges and Danny Graham gets in and puts the lad (Weimann) in.
‘We pressed the button that we’ve pressed many a time this year.’

Despite dropping more points, Leeds are still holding onto the final play off place but have Nottingham Forest and Hull City breathing down their necks, just two points behind Leeds.

Leeds face a tricky home clash against in form Reading next Friday in front of the Sky Sports cameras and unless they can sort their defence out they will be in trouble against the free scoring royals.
