Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was delighted with a much improved performance despite seeing his side slip outside the play off places.

Leeds had to settle for a point after dominating the second half with Alex McCarthy having an outstanding game in goal for Reading, with a number of terrific saves.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Grayson said, “I don`t think we could have done too much more, apart from score a goal, we`ve worked the goalkeeper and we`ve missed some good opportunities.
“I thought we worked ever so hard, we showed a bit of quality and we defended well, which as obviously been something we have tried to work on over the last few days to try and keep a clean sheet.
“Everything was going to plan but we just couldn`t put the ball in the back of the net and that`s the hardest thing to do in a football match.
“Overall, I`m delighted with how we played and delighted with the response after a couple of poor performances, unfortunately we couldn`t get the win that we thought we probably deserved.”

Robert Snodgrass saw two great-headed chances saved as did Max Gradel, as Leeds couldn`t find a way past McCarthy.

Bradley Johnson probably had the best chance of the game for Leeds but his effort skimmed off the top of the bar after a great run through the Reading defence.

Leeds are now outside the play off places for the first time since November after Nottingham Forest won earlier in the day.

The two sides are level on points with Forest having a one goal better goal difference.

Leeds and Forest could be joined on 66 points tomorrow with Hull and Burnley just three points behind them both but with poorer goal differences.
