Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has been in conversation with the National Group Manager David Allinson who is in charge of the Football League referees association regarding the performance of Anthony Taylor on Saturday.
Taylor was in charge of the Leeds v Middlesbrough game on Saturday, which saw three players sent off, two from Leeds.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, “I`ve had a conversation with David Allinson who is in charge of the referees association and I`ve expressed my opinion to him, he was very understanding, he`s seen some of the incidents and he is going to give me a bit more feedback in the next day or so.
“I think he`s very sympathetic with one or two of the decisions that happened.
All three players were sent off for two bookable offences. Leeds – Max Gradel and Tony McMahon from Middlesbrough were both shown yellow cards in the opening ten minutes for an altercation following a foul by Gradel on McMahon.
Gradel received his second yellow card of the afternoon inside thirty minutes for another foul on the same player.
McMahon received his second yellow card on the stroke of half time for a foul on Howson that didn`t look worthy of a second yellow card but with the referee losing control of the game it was inevitable what was going to happen.
Howson received his first yellow card in the first half when, he ‘took one for the team` with Marvin Emnes looking like getting away from the Leeds captain, with a quick counter attack.
His second yellow card was for a similar incident. What was mystifying was Taylor originally awarded a free kick to Leeds and was ready to book Emnes for what he must have thought was a dive. With the Boro player receiving treatment, he had obviously received guidance from one of his co-officials who felt that it was a foul. When Emnes returned to his feet, Howson received the yellow card and his marching orders with Taylor`s original decision being reversed.
It is not the first time that Taylor has taken centre stage at Elland Road.
Last season he sent Leeds – Robert Snodgrass and Sheffield United`s Jamie Ward off in the game at Elland Road.
Taylor is amongst the elite list from the Premier League and Saturday was his first game in charge this season.
In a game that wasn`t physical, Taylor showed seven yellow cards and three reds during the game.
