Leeds United manager Simon Grayson says the club have not received a transfer request from in demand Max Gradel.

Gradel is moving into the final year of his current contract at Elland Road and has been the focus of much speculation over the summer regarding his future.

The Daily Mail reported last week that the Ivory Coast international had handed in a transfer request, something that Grayson denies.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Grayson said, “I don`t know where people get this stuff from. There`s been no written transfer request and no unrest from him.
“You`ve seen from his performances in pre-season that he`s focused on what he needs to do, and we don`t want him to leave.
“People are out there to cause a bit of trouble and unsettle players but I spoke to Max about the situation and told him to focus on his football. That`s all he wants to do. The only people who matter in this is myself, the chairman (Ken Bates) and Max Gradel.”

A whole host of clubs have been linked with signing Gradel over the summer, including West Ham United, Fulham, Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and top French side Lille.

West Ham have so far been the only side to have a reported bid rejected for the 23 year olds services.
