Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says that striker Ross McCormack is showing all the attributes and qualities that made him go out and sign the striker last summer.

McCormack scored twice against Crystal Palace today, his fifth and sixth goals of the season to help Leeds record a 3-2 win over their South London opponents.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, “Ross McCormack is showing all the attributes and qualities that we expected of him when we signed him.”

McCormack found life hard when he first joined Leeds and an injury in the game with Sheffield United in September forced him to miss almost two months of the season.

The Scotland international had to wait until the Christmas period for his next start in a Leeds shirt.

His confidence was dealt a severe blow when he missed an hat full of golden chances in the New Years Day draw with Middlesbrough, including one in injury time that should have secured all three points for Leeds.

McCormack started the next game against Cardiff City, his former club, but he then had to wait until the penultimate game of the season against Burnley for his next start.

The 25 year old finished the season with the winning goal in to final two games of the season against Burnley and Queens Park Rangers, his first goals for the club.

Grayson feels that his first team opportunities last season were limited to the success of other players but since taking his chance, McCormack is showing the qualities that made him sign the striker last summer. “He was unfortunate last year when we signed him. I was excited about the signing but due to Snodgrass, Becchio, Howson and Gradel performing, he didn`t get a run in the team. He`s certainly doing that now and he is playing with immense quality,” continued Grayson.

McCormack as now scored eight times in his last ten competitive games for Leeds and he is currently the joint top goalscorer in the championship, with Southampton striker Ricky Lambert, with the pair both on five championship goals for the season.
