Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is looking forward to the diversion of a small matter of a Carling Cup tie with Manchester United this evening.

Whilst championship points are more important, Grayson is once again looking forward to pitting his wits against Leeds most bitter rivals.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, “This game is a diversion and a great diversion. As a manager and as players you want to test yourself against the best and over the past few seasons we have played Liverpool, Man Utd, Tottenham and Arsenal and overall we`ve done well.”

Grayson as indicated that he will make changes for tonight`s game with the side having to make the long trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is also expected to make wholesale changes from the side that defeated Chelsea at the weekend but it could still include a side full of international players like Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov.

Grayson was the first Leeds manager to take a side to Old Trafford and come away with a win since 1981 when they defeated the Premier League champions 1-0 in the FA Cup in 2010.

Whilst the manager knows the enormous task lying ahead, he believes that there is a possibility that lightning could still strike twice, when he continued. “They will start as favourites as they do in every game, and it`s up to us to give it our best and see where that takes us. If they do that and they stutter a bit, who knows what can happen?”
