Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was full of praise for young defender Tom Lees after the 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Friday night.

The 20 year old capped a fine defensive performance with the third goal in the Leeds victory at the Keepmoat.

Lees is finally getting a run in the Leeds side and he has been an almost permanent feature in the side since finally making his debut in the Carling Cup game with Bradford in the first week of the season.

Grayson praised the commitment shown by Lees who has spent the last two seasons out on loan. Speaking on Sky Sports, Grayson said, “He`s only 20 and he`s played nearly 100 games and that is good experience.
“He had the desire to go out and learn the trade. He has a huge amount of belief in his ability and he has a determination to succeed.
“He shows immense quality and calmness, he`s aggressive and attacks the ball and he`s got a lot of attributes that makes him a good player.”

The versatile defender started the season in the right full back position but in the last two games he has reverted to his more favoured central defensive role.

Since his move into the centre of defence, Leeds have kept back to back clean sheets for the first time since February and one of the leakiest defences in the championship has looked much more solid and assured.

Lees spent the whole of last season on loan with League Two side Bury and he was an almost ever present as the shakers secured promotion.

Leeds were quick to reward Lees with a new and improved contract earlier this season, keeping him with the club until 2015.
