Simon Grayson is confident that Leeds can turn round a first leg deficit when they go to Carlisle United in the second leg of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Northern final on February 9th.

Leeds lost 2-1 after conceding a late goal at Elland Road despite dominating for long periods of the first leg.

Grayson speaking in the Yorkshire Evening post said ‘We’re a goal behind in a cup tie going into the second leg, so I know we’re capable of turning it around.
In a two-legged game, you’ve got to make sure that you stay in the tie. We wanted to go up there with a lead but we’re only a goal down.”

Leeds will be hoping history can repeat itself again. In 2008 the two clubs met in the League One play off semi final. After losing the first leg at home, Leeds went to Carlisle and won 2-0 thanks to two goals from Jon Howson, the winner coming in the dying seconds of the game.

Whilst Carlisle are becoming a bit of a bogey side to Leeds at Elland Road having won three and drawn one in their last four visits, Leeds also have a good recent record at Brunton Park having won on their last two visits, 2-0.
