Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is keen to keep hold of both George McCartney and Andy O`Brien when their loans run out over the next week.

McCartney is into the second month of his loan from Sunderland and as been a consistent performer in the left back position.

He`s already made ten starts and earned a recall to the Northern Ireland squad this week but had to pull out through injury.

O`Brien joined in time for the Scunthorpe game and has started all four of Leeds games since his arrival with the club winning three and drawing one.

He also scored his first goal in Leeds colours in the recent home draw with Hull City.

The defence, which has conceded 31 goals so far this season as started to look more assured since their arrivals and Grayson would love to keep the pair at Elland Road past their current loan spells. Speaking in the YEP, Grayson said, ‘If we can keep a settled back four then it’ll play some part in getting consistency and confidence together. We want to keep good players and those two are good players.

‘We’ve got to be aware that Bolton could take Andy back and it’s something we don’t want to happen.

‘Hopefully if Bolton keep winning and he keeps enjoying himself then there might be the prospect of extending it.

‘With loan players you’re always open to a recall from the parent club but you’d like to think that Bolton might not need his services yet.’

The loan transfer window closes on the 26th November, until it reopens again during the January transfer window.
