Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is willing to see Bradley Johnson run down his contract at the end of the season rather than allow him to leave on the cheap.

Johnson was transfer listed by Leeds earlier in the season after the club and the player couldn`t agree personal terms on a new contract.

A number of Premiership clubs have been rumoured to be interested in signing the midfielder and Grayson admits there have been enquiries.

Speaking in the YEP, Grayson said, ‘One or two people have made polite enquiries. They might look at his situation and think they can prise him away on the cheap but we don’t give our players away cheaply.”

Leeds are currently without fellow midfielder Neil Kilkenny who is on international duty for most of January and have recently released Amdy Faye after his short term deal came to an end.

Grayson is prepared to let Johnson see out his contract at the club and leave on a free at the end of the season if need be, ‘If we have to do then we’ll let Bradley’s contract run down to the summer.
‘It’s an area where we’re a little bit short and I certainly won’t be doing anything with him straight away – if at all,’ he continued.

Johnson joined Leeds from Northampton Town for £250,000 in January 2008 and he`s been a regular in the side since joining making 120 appearances for the club.
