Leeds United boss Simon Grayson believes he didn`t get Chris Cohen sent off on Saturday.

Grayson was quick to let his feelings known when he remonstrated with the Nottingham Forest midfielder after his challenge on Leeds defender George McCartney during the closing moments of the first half on Saturday.

Cohen was shown a straight red card for a tackle Halsey described as ‘with excessive force`.

The message boards have been crammed with Forest fans complaining about the decision made by Halsey on Saturday.

They seem to have forgotten the fact that their defender Chris Gunter somehow managed to stay on the pitch in the reverse fixture at the City Ground in August.

The defender got away with a stamp on Leeds midfielder Sanchez Watt during the game; the Football Association later gave him a three-match suspension.

There was definitely still bad feelings between the two clubs after the original game, a game that saw both clubs charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players following the Gunter and Watt altercation.

Following the foul by Cohen Grayson and Forest assistant manager David Kelly squared up on the touchline.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson said, “If it had been the other way round…I`m sure he`d have jumped up and down. I`ve seen instances this season where their bench has been up and down, so I`m sure he`d have backed his player.
“Mark Halsey`s a Premier League referee who knows what the game`s about. He hasn`t sent him off because I`ve backed my player.”

George McCartney was quick to back the decision made by Halsey and his assistant in the same interview, “The referee had a decision to make and I think he made the right one. If you have two feet off the ground, the ref has no option but to send you off,” he said.

They say things even themselves out during the course of a season, maybe they did on Saturday.
