Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is hoping that Luciano Becchio will show a bit of loyalty and sign a new deal at the club.

The 26 year old is out of contract in the summer and the club could be about to lose another leading goalscorer for nothing, like Beckford last season, unless things can be sorted out.

Becchio is in the best form of his career at Elland Road at the moment and notched his tenth and eleventh goals of the season in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Argentinian as now scored 47 goals in 124 appearances since signing for the club after a successful trial in the summer of 2008.

Becchio was plucked from the obscurity of Spanish third division football to play for Leeds United and Grayson is hoping that the striker can repay some of the faith shown by the club to him when signing him.

Speaking after the Palace win, Grayson said, ‘Contract talks with Luciano are on-going but he has said he wants to stay.
‘We plucked him from the third division of the Spanish League and helped to make him a better player so you hope for some loyalty from players in return.’

Becchio looks well on the way to scoring his highest ever season tally with eleven already having netted 19 in his first season and 17 in his second.

Lets hope he`s still at Elland Road by the end of January to have the chance to break the 20 goal barrier.
