Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was happy to see his side play ugly and pick up the three points against Preston.

After an entertaining win over Doncaster at the weekend, Grayson was pleased with the win over Preston who are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, “It might have been an ugly game, at the weekend we won playing some really good attacking football but tonight we dug a result out.
“We had to show an ugly side to the game today and I thought that we did it really well.”

Leeds won for the second time in three days to move into fifth in the Championship and they are now just three points behind second placed Swansea City.

The goals in the 2-1 win over Preston came from Neil Kilkenny, who scored for only the second time this season and Billy Paynter who finally got his first for the club since signing from Swindon last summer.
