Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was happy with the performance after he saw his side beat Newcastle United.

Leeds finished off the pre season campaign unbeaten after beating Newcastle 3-2 at Elland Road.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio after the game, Grayson said, “It was good, obviously we are playing against a team in the top division like Newcastle and you are aware of the threats that they have.
“There was a lot of good individual performances, we were very composed when we ad possession of the ball and we was very hard to break down and to end pre season with a victory is a lot of confidence for the players.”

Leeds went ahead twice in the game before clinching the win in the final five minutes of the game.

Patrick Kisnorbo had given Leeds the lead after five minutes only for Steven Taylor to equalise for Newcastle with ten minutes remaining of the half.

Substitute Lloyd Sam restored Leeds advantage halfway through the second half only for Vuckic to equalise again for Newcastle soon afterwards.

Billy Paynter got the confidence boost he needed by scoring the winning goal for Leeds with five minutes remaining.

Leeds controlled the game for long periods with Max Gradel and Robert Snodgrass looking dangerous and John Howson running the centre of midfield.

All eyes now turn to next Saturday when Leeds open their championship campaign with a trip to Southampton.
