Leeds Manager Simon Grayson today admitted that he was delighted to have signed his number 1 target of the summer in Patrick Kisnorbo.

Kisnorbo, who was believed to be a target for several Championship sides including Derby and Crystal Palace, signed for the Whites last Wednesday on a free transfer after being released by Leicester City.

It was believed that Kisnorbo was one of Grayson`s signings at the beginning of the summer but most onlookers thought that Grayson would have been outmanoeuvred by the Championship clubs interested.

Speaking in the YEP Grayson said: ‘It’s a big coup for us. When you’ve got teams in the Championship chasing him and he decides to come here, it says a lot about the player and a lot about this club.
As soon as I knew he was available, he was one of the targets we wanted to go for.
But even when those teams did offer him something, we were in there as well and he wanted to come here.’

Some people might wonder what it was that made Patrick want to sign for Leeds ahead of Clough’s Derby or Warnock`s Palace, be it the pull of the club itself, of Simon Grayson or be it the huge support of 33,500 fans he saw for the Whites when Leicester visited last Boxing Day.

Whatever it was it means that Leeds United will have his services for the coming seasons as they push for football in higher divisions.
