Leeds United boss Simon Grayson admits he`s being frustrated in his quest to bring new players to the club.

Grayson has indicated since the loan transfer window reopened in February that he was on the verge of strengthening his squad, but with just twelve games now remining it`s failed to materialise and the Leeds boss says that`s down to the fact the players he`s pursuing are now playing first team football.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, “It`s been a frustrating couple of weeks if I`m being honest
“We had deals that were arranged that are now not there at this moment in time because players are playing in their first teams. I`m not complaining about that because it shows the quality of the players that we have identified.”

Grayson has always said that he will not go out and bring players in just for the sake of adding to the squad and that the quality of player he is looking at must be good enough to go straight into the side.

Leeds have been strongly linked with three Premier League midfield players over the last week, Barry Bannan -Aston Villa, Michael Johnson – Manchester City and Jordan Mutch – Birmingham City have all been linked with a move to Elland Road.

Barry Bannan played the full ninety minutes for Villa in their FA Cup defeat at Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Michael Johnson was an unused substitute for City in the same game, he still waits for his first, first team appearance since a long-term injury that has seen him sidelined since October 2009.

Mutch has played three times for Birmingham since returning to the club in the New Year after enjoying a six-month loan spell at Watford.
His last appearance came in the FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday on 19th February.
