Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was delighted with the response of his players in the win over Scunthorpe United.

Leeds went into the game on the back of two very disappointing home defeats that had seen the club drop into the bottom half of the table.

Grayson and his side had come in for some criticism n recent games, especially after the 4-0 home defeat by Cardiff City on Monday.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, ‘I’m delighted with the way we responded to our defeat against Cardiff last Monday night.

‘We had to show some good qualities to achieve that and that shows the spirit we have got in this club.”

Grayson was able to hand a debut to new signing Andy O`Brien from Bolton and George McCartney continued at left back after extending his loan from Sunderland.

Max Gradel was restored to the starting line up and he quickly gave Leeds the lead to settle the side down.

Despite conceding in the first half, Leeds dominated the second and Captain John Howson scored a 15-minute hat trick to earn Leeds a morale boosting 4-1 win.

The win moves Leeds back into the top half of the table in twelfth position and despite their indifferent form of late, they are just two points outside the play off places.
