Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is considering his options regarding the future of Amdy Faye after the midfielder completed 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday night.

The vastly experienced midfielder played for the reserves at Grimsby Town and Grayson was at the game to cast his eye over the former Portsmouth, Newcastle and Stoke City player.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, “Amdy did well. We`ll have a chat with his agent and see what happens. That`s as far things go at this stage.”

The Senegal international has been playing in either the English or Scottish Premier League since 2003 and the one obstacle might be the wage demands of Faye.

Faye was released by Premier League side Stoke City in the summer and has been without a club since.

Leeds fans have been desperate to see Simon Grayson add a defensive midfielder to the squad during the summer and despite the arrival of eleven new players it is the one area that Grayson has not strengthened.

Many fans see Faye as the answer to this problem, but they are also concerned about his fitness.

The 33 year old has missed many games throughout his career through injury and the most games he has played in a Premiership season since arriving in 2003 is 28.

Reserve team boss Neil Thompson was happy with the contribution made by Faye in the game, also speaking on the official website, Thompson said, ‘He’s not played for a long time, coming into 90 minutes is tough, but his work-rate was fine.’

In the game itself, Thompson was left frustrated as Leeds had to rely on a late equaliser to snatch a point in a 1-1 draw despite missing a host of good chances.
