Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has admitted he got stuck into Robert Snodgrass after the tricky winger had made a poor start to the season.

Snodgrass looked well below par in the first month of the season and Grayson says a chat after the Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United has proved a turning point in his season.

Speaking in the Daily Star , Grayson said, “I had a chat with him after the Manchester United game and I didn`t hold back.
“I told him, ‘You are more concerned with what is happening all over the pitch instead of concentrating on what you need to do.
“Since the Manchester United game he has been an absolute joy.
“His work-rate, closing down and quality of delivery have been unbelievable recently.”

The Scotland international admitted earlier this month that he had struggled in the early part of the season after missing most of the pre season training. Snodgrass picked up an injury during Leeds tour of Scotland in the early weeks of pre season.

He spoke on the Leeds United official website and admitted that his all round game wasn`t up to his usual level, when he commented, “I feel that I missed so much of pre season and I could feel it at times during the games.
“I wasn`t getting back as much as I`d have liked to do and that wasn`t me. I`ve had to be patient with myself and get my match fitness up to where I think it should be.”

Snodgrass continues to struggle with injuries. He was forced to pull out of the Scotland squad earlier this month with an ankle injury and he missed last weekends trip to Peterborough United with a back injury.

The 24 year old has looked back in the groove recently and he has enjoyed much improved performances since the defeat to Manchester United.

Snodgrass will now be hoping to continue with the consistent performances that earned him his first Scotland cap last season and he is now a regular in the squad.

His form last season also earned him interest from Premier League clubs, with Norwich reportedly having a bid rejected, whilst West Brom and Wigan were also reported to be interested.

Despite his own admitted poor start to the season, the winger currently leads the way in the Championship for number of assists to goals with eight.
