Leeds United manager Simon Grayson is being heavily backed for the vacant Aston Villa managers job.

William Hills have confirmed that the former Villa player`s odds have dropped from 50/1 to 5/2 favourite, after a series of bets on the current Leeds boss.

Graham Sharp, the media relations director for William Hills admitted that there have been a number of bets on Grayson becoming the next Villa boss, both online and in North Yorkshire getting shops.
“The source of the bets would not give the lie to suggestions that someone connected to Leeds may have had the nod that Grayson was a serious contender for Villa,” Sharp said in the Metro newspaper.

Sky Bet has also seen a number of bets placed on Grayson, reducing his odds from 25/1 to 5/2 favourite.

Grayson joined Leeds in December 2008 and led them to promotion from League One in his first full season in charge.

He also led Leeds to a respectable seventh place finish in their first season back in the Championship.

The boyhood Leeds fan joined Leeds from Blackpool in December 2008.

In his first full season at Bloomfield Road he led Blackpool to the championship via the play offs,he then helped them maintain their place in the Championship the following season.

Leeds has a good working relationship with Villa over the last few years after Leeds youngster Fabien Delph moved to Villa Park.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates said at the time how well Villa had conducted themselves during the negotiations.

Since then a number of Villa players have enjoyed loan spells at Elland Road including Eric Lichaj and Barry Bannan last season.
