Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is confident goalkeeper Paul Rachubka will bounce back from his mistake against Coventry City on Tuesday night.

Rachubka was making his first start in the championship for Leeds since signing from Blackpool in the summer on Tuesday.

The 30 year old had very little to do in the game but dropped a howler in the closing seconds of the game when he allowed the ball to bounce off his body and Richard Wood reacted to fire an unlikely equaliser for the visitors with almost the last kick of the ball.

Grayson worked with Rachubka at Blackpool and he is backing the keeper to bounce back. Speaking on the official website , Grayson said, “I worked with Paul at Blackpool and I don`t think he ever made a mistake that could be highlighted so I have no problems there. He`s a good, experienced lad, and he`s a more than capable goalkeeper.”

Rachubka is now expected to have a long run in the side, with regular goalkeeper Andy Lonergan ruled out for around six weeks after undergoing surgery on a fractured finger, which he suffered in the win at Doncaster Rovers last Friday.

The start for Rachubka against Coventry was only his third appearance in a Leeds shirt since joining the club.

He made his full debut in the Carling Cup win at Doncaster Rovers in August and he replaced the injured Lonergan for the final thirteen minutes at the same venue last Friday.
