Following the Football League`s announcement regarding this seasons Carling Cup draw this Thursday, we can now give you the up to date details.

For the first time in the competitions history, there will be a Preliminary round due to Championship side Birmingham City qualifying for Europe, after winning last seasons Carling Cup.

Last seasons two promoted sides from the Football conference, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon will meet in the Preliminary round at Crawley.

The first round will once again be split into Northern and Southern sections, with seeded and unseeded sides.

Leeds are amongst the sides seeded in the Northern section.

The Football League will announce the first round draw at 9am, this Thursday, 16th June.

The first round ties will take place week commencing August 8th.
