Leeds United travel to Crystal Palace today and come up against former loan player Dougie Freedman and he believes Leeds have the right manager in Simon Grayson in charge.

Grayson has come under pressure recently after a poor run of results, which saw them lose three games in a row and slip out of the play off places.

Freedman believes Grayson has done a great job since his arrival at Elland Road in 2008 and he thinks that if he is given time he will get it right.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Freedman said, “Leeds are a wonderful club with wonderful history

“It`s a shame than when they do have a few rocky results, people start asking questions of Simon Grayson.

“He`s done a great job with a promotion and a top-eight finish in his first year (in the Championship), and they`re still very much in contention for the play-offs.

“Leeds are such a big club and expectations are high but I`m sure that if they give him time they`ll be right in the mix for the play-offs at the end of the season.”

Freedman spent a short spell on loan at Leeds towards the end of the 2007/08 season under Grayson`s predecessor Gary McAllister and helped Leeds reach the end of season play off final.

He is now working wonders with Palace since taking over the manager`s job last January.

He steered Palace away from the relegation zone last season and they are amongst those clubs vying for a play-off place this season.

They are also just one game away from reaching the Carling Cup final at Wembley after they beat Cardiff City 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final in midweek.

When the two sides met at Elland Road in September, Leeds eventually won 3-2 thanks to a late winner from Ross McCormack.

Leeds will be looking for a bit of revenge after losing last season`s corresponding fixture on Easter Monday.

Palace won thanks to a goal inside two minutes. The win secured their safety in the championship whilst putting a huge dent in Leeds play-off aspirations.
