Former Leeds United midfielder Bruno Ribeiro is back in English football after being appointed as the new manager of Port Vale.

The 40-year-old has joined the League One side as a replacement for Rob Page who left to take over at Northampton Town last month. His assistant at Vale Park will be another former midfielder. Michael Brown has been appointed as his assistant manager after joining the club following his release by Leeds at the end of the 2014/15 season.

The Portuguese midfielder spent two-years with Leeds during his playing career. He arrived at Elland Road in 1997, making 52 appearances before joining Sheffield United in the summer of 1999. He spent two-years at Bramall Lane before returning to Portugal in 2001.

Since his retirement, Ribeiro has had a number of managerial roles in both Portugal and Bulgaria.
