The Football League have announced that they have refused Leeds United the registration of Italian midfielder Andrea Tabanelli.

The 23-year-old arrived at Leeds last Friday from Cagliari, agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season.

Leeds have been waiting for clearance from the Football League this week but in a statement, they said:

Leeds United have been informed that The Football League has refused the registration of Andrea Tabanelli as the transfer did not comply with League regulations.

Tabanelli will now return to Cagliari.
